Pregnant passengers

Air travel is generally safe for healthy pregnant women who have no underlying medical conditions, and it does not increase the risk of pregnancy complications.

However, air travel is not recommended for pregnant women with medical or obstetric risk factors. Therefore, pregnant passengers should consult their doctor and also refer to the information below to be best prepared for their flight.

Pregnant passengers do not need to pre-book services. However, passengers must inform the staff of their pregnancy status at the time of booking and check-in.

Pregnant women need to obtain a health clearance before the flight if:

  • They are carrying twins or more.
  • The pregnancy is through in vitro fertilization (IVF).
  • Their health condition has worsened.
  • The fetus is assessed by a doctor as developing abnormally.

1. Consult a Doctor

Passengers are advised to consult a doctor before traveling to ensure safety for both the mother and baby throughout the journey, minimize stress during the flight, and especially in special cases such as low blood pressure in the fetus, risk of miscarriage, etc.

2. Pregnancy Period and Required Documentation

a. Passengers pregnant under 28 weeks

  • Sun PhuQuoc Airways accepts passengers as normal passengers.
  • Passengers must present proof of the gestational age of the fetus.
  • Passengers must sign a liability agreement with Sun PhuQuoc Airways.

b. Passengers pregnant from 28 weeks to under 32 weeks

Passengers must present a medical check-up record, regular prenatal check-up book, ultrasound report, health record, or a doctor's certificate with the following information:

  • Certified by a specialist doctor
  • Single or multiple pregnancy (twins, triplets, etc.)
  • Gestational age
  • Estimated due date
  • Health status of the mother and fetus is normal or good

The medical record is valid within 15 days from the actual departure date of the first flight leg.

Passengers must sign a liability agreement with Sun PhuQuoc Airways.

c. Passengers pregnant from 32 weeks to under 36 weeks; Passengers with twins or more from 28 weeks to under 32 weeks; Passengers with pregnancy via in vitro fertilization or worsening health condition or abnormal fetal development (under 32 weeks):

Passengers must present a medical check-up record, regular prenatal check-up book, ultrasound report, health record, or a doctor's certificate with the following information:

  • Certified by a specialist doctor
  • Single or multiple pregnancy (twins, triplets, etc.)
  • Gestational age
  • Estimated due date
  • Health status of the mother and fetus is normal or good
  • Doctor's confirmation that the passenger is fit to travel

The medical record is valid within 7 days from the actual departure date of the first flight leg.

Passengers must sign a liability agreement with Sun PhuQuoc Airways.
