Conditional carriage of baggage

In certain cases, Sun PhuQuoc Airways allows passengers to carry items when meeting specific regulations. Passengers are kindly advised to refer to the information below to make the best preparations for their upcoming journey. 

a) Devices containing lithium batteries are permitted for personal use only and must not be carried for distribution purposes.

b) Portable electronic medical devices (AEDs, CPAP machines, ventilators, etc.) containing lithium batteries must be required for the passenger’s medical treatment and must be carried on the person.

c) Batteries must comply with the requirements of the United Nations Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part III, Subsection 38.3.

d) Spare lithium batteries and power banks containing lithium batteries are not accepted for carriage as checked baggage.

e) Power banks/spare batteries shall not be stored in overhead storage compartments. They must be removed from carry-on baggage and kept in a location that is easily visible and accessible, such as the seat pocket in front of the passenger.

f) Passengers must not charge power banks or use them to charge electronic devices at any time during the flight.

g) Power banks/spare batteries must be individually protected to prevent short circuits by using original packaging, insulating terminals, covering exposed terminals with tape, or placing each unit in a separate protective bag.

h) In case of abnormalities such as smoke or increased temperature, passengers must immediately inform cabin crew.

i) SPA does not accept Samsung Galaxy Note 7 mobile phones for carriage (refer to Directive No. 4407/CT-CHK).

j) Devices containing lithium batteries must comply with the following specific requirements:

Note:

(1) Each person is limited to a maximum of 15 PED. The operator may approve the carriage of more than 15 PED.

(2) Each person is limited to a maximum of 20 spare batteries of any type.

(3) Limited to a maximum of 2 power banks.

(4) Limited to a maximum of 2 spare batteries.

(*) When devices are carried in checked baggage, must be completely switched off (not in sleep or hibernation mode), unless

- lithium content does not exceed 0.3 g for lithium metal batteries per device, and

- Wh rating does not exceed 2.7 Wh for lithium-ion batteries per device.

(**) If the baggage is to be checked in, the lithium battery must be removed and the removed battery must be carried in the cabin.

k) For non-spillable wet batteries, in addition to the above conditions, the following additional requirements must be met:

- Comply with Special Provision A67 of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR);

- Contain no free liquid or unabsorbed liquid;

Battery voltage must not exceed 12 V or energy rating must not exceed 100 Wh;

- Each passenger may carry a maximum of 02 spare batteries in carry-on baggage;

- Batteries must be protected against short circuit.

Passengers transporting dry ice must contact Sun PhuQuoc Airways for approval and packaging instructions.

  • Each passenger is allowed to carry a maximum of 2.5kg (5lb) of solid carbon dioxide (dry ice) in carry-on and checked baggage.
  • Dry ice may only be transported for the purpose of preserving perishable items, is not classified as dangerous goods, and must be properly packaged to allow the release of carbon dioxide (CO2).
  • When transporting dry ice in checked baggage, the package must be labeled "DRY ICE".

1. General regulations on the transport of liquids, viscous substances, and aerosols (liquids) in carry-on and checked baggage

Items that do not contain radioactive substances, used for medical purposes or personal care/cosmetics (including aerosol containers) such as hair spray, perfume, sunscreen spray, alcohol-based pharmaceuticals, alcohol-based sanitizing wipes, non-flammable compressed gas aerosols for sports or household use, may be carried in carry-on and checked baggage under the following conditions:

  • Each bottle/container/can must not exceed 0.5 kg or 0.5 liters.
  • The total quantity of these items (including checked and carry-on baggage) must not exceed 2 kg or 2 liters per passenger.
  • Non-toxic, non-flammable sports or household aerosols: only allowed in checked baggage, not in carry-on baggage.
  • All bottles/containers must be sealed to prevent leakage.
  • Spray valves must be properly capped or protected to prevent accidental activation.
  • Must comply with checked baggage weight and size regulations for free baggage allowance.

2. Packaging regulations for liquids in checked baggage

a. For liquids contained in bottles/containers

  • These bottles/containers must be wrapped in plastic or placed in plastic bags to prevent breakage and leakage into the aircraft cargo hold. Liquids must be securely packaged to prevent spilling during transport.
  • Sun PhuQuoc Airways will refuse to transport luggage containing liquids that are not properly packaged, which may leak and affect other baggage.

b. For alcoholic beverages

Acceptance limits:

  • Up to 24% alcohol by volume: no restriction.
  • Over 24% up to 70% alcohol by volume: must be in the original manufacturer’s sealed container with label, container volume not exceeding 5 liters, maximum 5 liters per passenger.
  • Above 70% alcohol by volume: not allowed in carry-on, checked baggage, or on person.

Packing instructions

  • Alcoholic beverages are accepted only in the original container from the manufacturer and must remain sealed to verify alcohol content.
  • Maximum container volume: 1 liter.
  • Wrap each bottle in newspaper or plastic bag.
  • Provide a divider between bottles.
  • Place bottles in waterproof foam or plastic boxes or containers, then cover, seal carefully with tape to prevent leaks or spills during transport. Each waterproof box/container must be wrapped in plastic with a minimum thickness of 1 mm.
  • For all types of liquids in bottles/containers: bottles/containers must be wrapped in plastic or placed in plastic bags to prevent breakage and leakage into the aircraft hold.

Regulations for transporting perishable goods, seafood, frozen items, and other easily spoiled cargo are as follows:

  • Only accepted as checked baggage.
  • If accepted for transport, the passenger assumes all risks during transportation and must confirm that no dangerous goods are included. The passenger is fully responsible in case of leakage or any impact on the aircraft cargo hold.
  • Perishable or easily spoiled items must be packed in plastic bags, which can be layered to prevent tearing or puncturing. Then, they must be placed in sealed outer packaging (boxes or styrofoam containers) with tape to ensure no odor, leakage, or contamination occurs that could affect other baggage or cargo in the aircraft.

1. Fish sauce/fermented fish products and strong-smelling liquids

Accepted for transport in checked baggage:

  • Fish sauce or other strong-smelling liquids in glass bottles or unsealed containers are not accepted for transport.
  • Passengers must declare that they are not carrying dangerous goods and must take full responsibility in case any liquid leaks or spills into the cargo hold.

Packaging requirements:

  • Bottles/containers must be tightly sealed and each bottle must be individually wrapped with multiple layers of tape.
  • The liquid in each bottle must not exceed 95% of the bottle’s total capacity.
  • These bottles must be placed in a foam box, plastic box, or waterproof container, then sealed securely with tape to prevent leakage during handling and transportation. Each foam box/plastic box/waterproof container must be wrapped in a plastic bag with a minimum thickness of 1 mm.
  • For all types of liquids stored in bottles or jars: the bottles/jars must be wrapped in plastic or placed inside plastic bags to prevent breakage and leakage into the cargo hold.

2. Durian, jackfruit, and products made from durian or jackfruit

Only accepted for transportation in checked baggage.

Packaging requirements: Durian and jackfruit must be tightly wrapped in multiple layers of plastic before being packed in checked baggage or placed in an inspected container to prevent odor from spreading to other baggage.

1. Cremation Ashes

Accepted for transportation in both carry-on baggage and checked baggage.

Transportation Conditions

  • Cremated remains must be placed in an urn and wrapped with materials that ensure safety and airtight sealing.
  • The urn must be properly packed and airtight.

Required Documents

  • Death certificate, extract of death registration, or handover minutes of the deceased from next of kin.
  • Proof of kinship or a written commitment confirming the relationship with the deceased.
  • Invoice, certificate, or cremation handover documents.
  • Transportation request form.
  • Transportation commitment form.
  • 2. Remains (Non-cremated)
  • Only accepted for transportation as checked baggage.

    Transportation Conditions:

    • Only accepted on domestic routes.
    • The remains must be packed tightly according to quarantine authority instructions and placed inside a solid container to prevent tearing, breaking, or odor leakage during transport.

    • Death certificate, extract of death registration, or handover minutes of the deceased from next of kin.
    • Proof of kinship or a written commitment confirming the relationship with the deceased.
    • Invoice, certificate, or cremation handover documents.
    • Transportation request form.
    • Transportation commitment form.
