Identification documents and Visa

To ensure a smooth journey and avoid complications during airline and immigration procedures, passengers of Sun PhuQuoc Airways are required to prepare all necessary personal identification documents as prescribed (based on Appendix VII on Personal Information for Air Travel; identity documents, tickets, boarding passes, issued in accordance with Circular No. 42/2023/TT-BGTVT dated December 29, 2023, by the Minister of Transport).

Passengers completing check-in procedures for domestic flights within Vietnam must present one of the following documents or electronic data having equivalent legal validity: 

a) For passengers of foreign nationality

  • Passport (bearing the most recent entry verification stamp) or an international travel document (bearing the most recent entry verification stamp) together with documents related to residence in Vietnam (visa, visa exemption certificate, permanent residence card, temporary residence card, APEC Business Travel Card), except in cases eligible for visa exemption;
  • Diplomatic Identity Card issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to members of diplomatic missions, consular offices, or representative offices of international organizations;
  • Airport or aerodrome security control card with long-term validity;
  • Identification card issued by Vietnamese airlines;
  • Level 2 electronic identification account of the passenger.

In the event of a lost passport, the passenger must present a diplomatic note issued by the diplomatic or consular authority of the passenger’s nationality, or an official letter issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs (with certification from the local police authority where the passport was lost), confirming the passenger’s identity and the loss of passport, with photograph affixed and stamped across the photo. Such diplomatic note or official letter shall be valid for 30 days from the date of certification. 

b) For passengers of Vietnamese nationality

  • Level 2 electronic identification account of the passenger;
  • Personal information of a child under 14 years of age contained in the Level 2 electronic identification account of the father, mother, legal guardian, or accompanying passenger on the same flight (passengers who have registered biometric data for aviation check-in procedures may use the automated security control gate and automated boarding gate);
  • Passport or laissez-passer, Citizen Identity Card, or Identity Card;
  • Birth certificate, civil status extract, extract of birth registration (birth registration information extract), confirmation of civil status information (applicable to children under 14 years of age); birth certification document (applicable to children under 02 months of age who have not yet been issued a birth certificate);
  • Identification or certification issued by the People’s Public Security or the Vietnam People’s Army;
  • National Assembly Delegate Card;
  • Communist Party Membership Card;
  • Press Card;
  • Airport or aerodrome security control card with long-term validity;
  • Identification card issued by Vietnamese airlines;
  • Certificate of identity confirmation issued by the police authority (the certificate must include the following information: certifying authority; certifier; date of certification; full name, date of birth, gender, permanent residence address of the certified person; reason for certification. The certificate must have a photograph affixed, stamped across the photo, and shall be valid for 30 days from the date of certification);
  • Certificate issued by a competent authority confirming that the passenger has just completed serving a sentence;
  • Certification issued by a social organization for children under the care of such organization (valid for 06 months from the date of certification). 

Passengers completing check-in procedures for international flights must present one of the following documents:

  • Passport or laissez-passer or other documents valid for exit and entry in accordance with applicable laws, together with a visa, visa exemption certificate, permanent residence card, APEC Business Travel Card, or temporary residence card;
  • Identity Card or Citizen Identity Card (where Vietnam and the relevant country have signed a treaty or international agreement permitting their citizens to use Identity Cards or Citizen Identity Cards in lieu of passports within each other's territories)...

In cases where a child does not have an individual passport, the child’s full name, date of birth, and photograph must be recorded and affixed in the passport of the legal representative, including the biological father, biological mother, adoptive father, adoptive mother, or legal guardian. 

Passengers who are inmates, defendants, or persons under transfer, extradition, or deportation procedures are only required, when completing air travel formalities, to present documents issued by a competent authority certifying the escort under custody; escorting officers must present the required documents in accordance with the above regulations. 

Passenger documents used for air travel must meet the following conditions: 

a) Be original documents and remain valid; or be electronic documents having legal validity in accordance with applicable regulations; 

b) For birth certificates, civil status extracts; extracts of birth registration (birth registration information extracts); confirmations of civil status information; and birth certification documents, they must be originals or certified true copies in accordance with the law; or electronic versions having legal validity as prescribed; 

c) Documents shall not be accepted if they do not contain a photograph or if the photograph does not comply with legal regulations, except for: birth certificates, birth certification documents, civil status extracts; birth registration extracts; confirmations of civil status information; documents issued by competent authorities certifying escort under custody; identification documents issued to children under 06 years of age; certifications issued by competent authorities confirming that the passenger has just completed serving a sentence; certifications issued by social organizations for children being cared for by such organizations; 

d) In the case of a Level 2 electronic identification account or an electronic birth certificate of the passenger, the account must be active and functioning properly at the time of presentation.
