From 03 February 2026, Driving Licences Will No Longer Be Accepted for Domestic Flight Check-in

Sun PhuQuoc Airways respectfully informs our valued passengers of an important update regarding identification requirements for air travel.

Pursuant to Circular 14/2026/TT-BCA, issued by the Ministry of Public Security, the regulations on the Aviation Security Program and Aviation Security Quality Control will officially take effect from 03 February 2026.

One notable change is the revision and standardization of the list of acceptable identification documents for passengers during check-in and security screening at airports.

Driving Licences No Longer Accepted for Domestic Flights

Effective 03 February 2026, driving licences (car and motorcycle) will no longer be considered valid identification for aviation procedures.

Passengers travelling with only a driving licence will not be eligible to complete check-in procedures, including for domestic flights.

Previously, driving licences were accepted as an alternative form of identification for domestic air travel. However, in line with strengthened security measures and enhanced passenger identity verification systems, this document has been removed from the approved list.

Accepted Identification Documents for Domestic Flights

For domestic flights, passengers must present one of the following valid identification documents:

- Valid Citizen Identity Card

- Valid National ID Card (if still within its legal validity period)

- Valid passport

- Valid professional or official ID cards with photo, such as military ID, police ID, National Assembly delegate card, press card, etc.

In case of lost identification documents, passengers may use a Certificate of Identity Confirmation issued by the local police authority, bearing a photo and official stamp in accordance with regulations.

Additionally, certain airports have implemented identity verification via Level 2 electronic identification accounts (VNeID), which may be used in place of a Citizen Identity Card for domestic flight procedures. Passengers are advised to confirm acceptance with the airline and departure airport prior to travel.

Requirements for International Flights

For international travel, passengers must hold a valid passport in accordance with the entry requirements of the destination country, along with a visa or visa exemption document where applicable.

Depending on the itinerary, residence permits or temporary residence cards issued by foreign authorities may also be required.

Important Notice to Passengers

Identification checks at check-in counters and security screening points are conducted strictly in accordance with prevailing regulations. Airline staff are not authorised to accept documents outside the approved list.

Passengers presenting only a driving licence from 03 February 2026 onwards may be denied check-in.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways kindly recommends that passengers carefully review and prepare valid identification documents prior to travel to ensure a smooth and seamless journey.
