Sun Group showcases its aviation ecosystem at Routes World 2026, strengthening international connectivity for Phu Quoc ahead of APEC 2027

FRANKFURT, Germany, 21 October 2026 - Sun Group presented its integrated aviation ecosystem at Routes World 2026, bringing together airline operations, airports, ground handling and inflight catering. On the opening day, SunF Group’s Stand E20 welcomed a range of airlines and international partners to explore opportunities for collaboration, with a particular focus on developing air services to Phu Quoc ahead of APEC 2027.

Connecting the aviation and tourism ecosystems

Taking place from 21 to 23 October 2026, Routes World is one of the leading international forums for air service development. It brings together airlines, airports, tourism organisations and destination representatives from around the world to meet in person, assess market opportunities and develop new air links.

Sun Group presents its aviation ecosystem at Stand E20, Routes World 2026

The exhibit at Stand E20 features businesses within Sun Aviation Group (SAG), Sun Group’s aviation division: Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA); Phu Quoc International Airport, which the Group manages and operates through Sun Airport Corporation (SAC); Van Don International Airport; Sun PhuQuoc Ground Services (SGP); and Sun PhuQuoc Air Catering (SCA).

Developing these capabilities in parallel enables close coordination across the aviation value chain. For international carriers, this integrated approach creates opportunities for cooperation in route development, operational coordination and airport services, facilitating the launch of new air links.

Sun Group aims to expand the scope for cooperation beyond aviation operations alone

Sun Group’s strategy links its aviation ecosystem with its tourism, hospitality and entertainment portfolio in Phu Quoc and other destinations. This enables partners to collaborate on generating travel demand, developing tourism products tailored to specific source markets and connecting air services with experiences at the destination.

As destination appeal becomes increasingly important in attracting international air services, the integrated model aims to deliver greater value throughout the visitor journey and extend cooperation beyond airline operations.

Strengthening international connectivity for Phu Quoc ahead of APEC 2027

Sun Group’s priority at Routes World 2026 is to strengthen international air connectivity to Phu Quoc as the island enters a new phase of development ahead of APEC Economic Leaders’ Week 2027.

Sun Group is investing approximately VND 22 trillion in the expansion of Phu Quoc International Airport. Key components include a second runway, the new international passenger terminal (T2), a VIP terminal, apron expansion and supporting infrastructure. These facilities are scheduled to enter service in 2027 to support APEC, with T2 designed to handle 24 million passengers annually. The expansion will increase the airport’s capacity to accommodate international flights and provide the infrastructure to support Phu Quoc’s long-term development as an international destination.

Sun Group representatives meet aviation partners at the event

During the event, SAG is holding bilateral meetings with airlines, airports and route development partners. Discussions focus on opportunities to launch new routes, strengthen existing connections and attract international visitors to Phu Quoc during the APEC year. Target segments include leisure and business travel, as well as meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE).

Sun Group’s participation in Routes World 2026 marks a further step in expanding SAG’s network of international partners. Ahead of APEC 2027, the Group is pursuing the coordinated development of its airline, airport infrastructure, aviation services and tourism ecosystem to strengthen Phu Quoc’s links with international markets and help lay the foundations for the island’s long-term growth.
