Sun PhuQuoc Airways - Rise Together

01/01/2026

Sun PhuQuoc Airways welcomes its fifth Airbus A321NX — a brand-new aircraft delivered directly from Germany

At 02:30 p.m on the first day of 2026, Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) of Sun Group officially welcomed its sixth aircraft as it landed at Noi Bai International Airport. The aircraft is a brand-new Airbus A321NX owned by Sun PhuQuoc Airways.

As the latest variant of the A321 family, the A321NX features a comprehensively upgraded cabin; an advanced air circulation system equipped with HEPA filters to ensure fresh air quality on board; and new-generation LEAP-1A engines delivering superior operational efficiency, including up to 20% fuel savings compared with previous generations. This aircraft type is well suited not only for high-demand domestic routes but also as a technical foundation for the airline’s planned expansion into regional international routes in 2026.

The new aircraft of Sun PhuQuoc Airways, financed by National Citizen Bank (NCB), is the airline’s fourth Airbus A321NX. NCB is expected to continue to be a comprehensive financial partner of SPA in the time ahead, including providing working capital and implementing appropriate financial solutions to upgrade the fleet and expand both domestic and international route networks.
Sun PhuQuoc Airways now operates a total of six aircraft, including four brand-new Airbus A321NX. Notably, the airline’s current average fleet age is only 2.49 years. This makes Sun PhuQuoc Airways the airline with the youngest fleet in Vietnam at present, and among the youngest fleets worldwide.

According to international aviation industry statistics, the global average fleet age currently ranges from 13 to 15 years, as many airlines are compelled to extend aircraft life cycles due to post-pandemic supply-chain disruptions. Against this backdrop, a young airline like Sun PhuQuoc Airways building a fleet with an average age of under three years represents a significant competitive advantage in operational efficiency.

According to plan, within January 2026, Sun PhuQuoc Airways is expected to add two more Airbus A320 aircraft. This roadmap allows the airline to maintain a leading position in Vietnam in terms of fleet youth and modernity, while establishing a strong foundation for expanding international routes connecting Phu Quoc. From early Q2, routes will include Busan (Korea), Singapore, Bangkok (Thailand) and Hong Kong; from Q3, services to Mumbai, New Delhi (India) and Kaohsiung (Taiwan) will follow.

Alongside expanding its young and modern fleet and launching new international routes, Sun PhuQuoc Airways also continues to maintain stable frequency on existing routes, prioritizing convenient flight times for passengers traveling to and from Phu Quoc. From 8 January 2026, the airline will increase frequency to five flights per day on both key routes: Hanoi – Phu Quoc and Ho Chi Minh City – Phu Quoc. In the near future, frequencies will continue to rise to meet travel demand during Phu Quoc’s peak season.

From January 1, 2026, Sun PhuQuoc Airways passengers can complete flight check-in procedures online using biometric verification via the Sun PhuQuoc Airways app integrated with VNeID, gradually replacing the need to present traditional travel documents at the airport. Although Sun PhuQuoc Airways only began operations at the end of 2025, the airline has swiftly completed integration and put this procedure into operation, demonstrating its pioneering efforts in digital transformation to deliver a safer, faster and more seamless travel experience for customers.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways is Vietnam’s first airline named after an island. It is developed under a “hub-and-spoke” network model, directly connecting Phu Quoc with major tourism and economic centers domestically and internationally. The airline aims to serve Vietnamese travelers and international visitors from around the world via direct flights with reasonable fares and seamless experiences integrated within Sun Group’s ecosystem on the Pearl Island, thereby enhancing accessibility to Phu Quoc as a true international destination.

As Phu Quoc becomes a Special Administrative - Economic Zone and the selected host of APEC 2027, the presence of an airline bearing the island’s name with a young, modern fleet and a distinctive, well-planned growth strategy will help boost tourism, strengthen global connectivity, and elevate Phu Quoc’s position. Alongside developing the airline that directly connects Phu Quoc, Sun Group has also taken over and is operating Phu Quoc International Airport, marking an important step in improving service quality, enhancing operational capacity, and creating a solid infrastructure platform ahead of APEC 2027.
