Opening a new gateway connecting Vietnam and Southwest China
The introduction of two new routes to Chengdu marks another step in Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ expansion in China, one of the largest international source markets for Vietnam’s tourism industry.
According to the planned schedule, the Phu Quoc – Chengdu route will officially commence operations on 16 July 2026, with three round-trip flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

This will be the first scheduled direct route connecting Phu Quoc and Chengdu, reducing travel time to under four hours and offering a more convenient travel option for passengers in both directions.
From 12 August 2026, Sun PhuQuoc Airways will further expand its Chengdu network with the launch of the Ho Chi Minh City – Chengdu route, operated with four round-trip flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Flights are scheduled to depart from Tan Son Nhat International Airport at 16:35 (local time) and arrive at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport at 21:05; the return flight is scheduled to depart Chengdu at 22:05 and arrive in Ho Chi Minh City at 01:00 (local time).
The new service will provide an additional full-service travel option between Vietnam’s largest economic hub and Southwest China.
China has been identified as one of Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ strategic markets. The simultaneous launch of two routes to Chengdu further underscores the airline’s commitment to expanding its presence in the largest international source market for Vietnam’s tourism industry, while strengthening connectivity between key tourism and economic hubs of the two countries.

With a population of more than 21 million, Chengdu is a major economic, commercial and transport hub in Southwest China, as well as one of the country’s fastest-growing outbound travel markets. The city is renowned for its giant pandas, Sichuan cuisine, Sichuan opera and rich cultural heritage.
