According to statistics released by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) once again ranked as the most punctual airline in Vietnam in January 2026, achieving an On-Time Performance (OTP) rate of 87.9%. Notably, the airline recorded a zero flight cancellation rate, underscoring its operational reliability and thorough preparedness during the peak travel period at the beginning of the year.
Maintaining a leading position during the peak season
In January 2026, Vietnam’s domestic aviation market faced significant operational pressure with a total of 24,333 flights. While the industry-wide average OTP stood at 71.1%, Sun PhuQuoc Airways outperformed the market with an OTP of 87.9%.
This marks the second consecutive month that SPA has topped the industry ranking for reliability. Previously, in December 2025, the airline also led the market with an OTP of 93.5%. Sustaining such strong performance throughout consecutive peak months at year-end and the start of the new year highlights SPA’s professional operational capability and seamless coordination across the Sun Group ecosystem.

A strong commitment to safeguarding every journey
With 1,100 flights operated in January, SPA experienced no flight cancellations. A representative of Sun PhuQuoc Airways shared:
“For us, ‘on-time’ is not merely a performance metric—it is a commitment to respecting our passengers’ valuable time. SPA strives to ensure that every business trip runs smoothly and every holiday begins with complete joy.”
A young fleet and a high-potential expansion strategy
SPA’s strong operational performance is supported by one of the youngest and most modern fleets in Vietnam. By the end of February 2026, the airline is expected to expand its fleet to nine aircraft, including five newly delivered A321NX (A321neo ACF) aircraft. This rapid fleet expansion not only demonstrates SPA’s financial capacity but also serves its strategic plan to broaden its international route network.
According to the roadmap, starting in early Q2 2026, SPA will officially connect Phu Quoc with international destinations such as Taipei, Busan, Singapore, Bangkok, and Hong Kong, followed by Mumbai and New Delhi in Q3 2026. Sun Group’s assumption of operational management of Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC), together with SPA’s steady growth, is forming a robust infrastructure foundation to position Phu Quoc as a key international destination, in preparation for APEC 2027.
As Vietnam’s first airline named after an island, Sun PhuQuoc Airways is invested in and developed by Sun Group under a hub-and-spoke network model, directly connecting Phu Quoc with major tourism and economic centers domestically and internationally through nonstop flights, competitive fares, and a seamless travel experience integrated with the “Pearl Island” ecosystem.
SPA has become one of the few young airlines in Vietnam to establish a fully integrated operational ecosystem, having consecutively obtained critical certifications from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam. These include the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) with an expanded scope covering international routes across Asia and the Middle East, the Approved Training Organization (ATO) Certificate, the Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO) Certificate, and authorization for basic type training for aircraft maintenance personnel at A1/B1.1+ B2 and B1/B2 levels for the A320/A321 aircraft family. In December 2025, SPA recorded an OTP of 93.5%, the highest across Vietnam’s domestic aviation industry.
