From May 5, 2026, Sun PhuQuoc Airways officially opens ticket sales for its new direct route connecting Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and Van Don (VDO). The move marks another step in the airline’s efforts to provide more efficient travel solutions, directly linking Vietnam’s southern economic center with one of the Northeast region’s key tourism gateways.

From May 5, 2026, Sun PhuQuoc Airways officially opened ticket sales for its new direct route connecting Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and Van Don (VDO).
According to the airline’s plan, the Ho Chi Minh City - Van Don direct service will commence operations on June 15, 2026, with a frequency of four flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The flight schedule has been designed to accommodate flexible travel demand: flights depart Ho Chi Minh City at 15:30 and arrive in Van Don at 17:30; in the opposite direction, flights depart Van Don at 18:10 and land in Ho Chi Minh City at 20:30 (local time).
The launch of the SGN – VDO direct route is expected to significantly reduce travel time for passengers by eliminating reliance on traditional transit points. More importantly, the route serves as a strategic bridge for trade and connectivity, opening up further opportunities for supply chain integration, commerce, and especially tourism development between the two economic regions.

The direct SGN – VDO route helps passengers save travel time by eliminating reliance on traditional transit points.
For Vietnam’s Northeast region, Van Don International Airport represents a critical strategic infrastructure asset. As a modern transportation gateway, the airport provides direct access to Quang Ninh’s renowned heritage sites and destinations, including Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay, and island tourism areas such as Quan Lan, Minh Chau, and Co To. In 2026, Quang Ninh aims to welcome 22 million visitors, including 5.2 million international arrivals, with projected tourism revenue of approximately VND 65 trillion.
As the province continues to accelerate the development of heritage-based tourism, the night-time economy, sustainable tourism, and high-end integrated resorts, the new direct route from Ho Chi Minh City is expected to become a strong catalyst for attracting high-spending domestic travelers from southern Vietnam. Conversely, the route will also enable residents and businesses in Quang Ninh and neighboring areas to access the country’s largest economic hub more conveniently, supporting investment and business exchange activities.

During the peak summer season, the launch of ticket sales for Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ SGN – VDO route provides passengers with more convenient travel options.
The route also benefits from strong infrastructure synergy. Van Don International Airport is currently operating with an annual capacity of approximately 2.5 million passengers and is fully capable of accommodating modern aircraft fleets. Under Vietnam’s national airport network master plan with a vision toward 2050, Van Don Airport is planned to expand its capacity to 20 million passengers per year, further strengthening its strategic position within the region.
By operating this route, Sun PhuQuoc Airways continues to reinforce its positioning as a full-service carrier committed to delivering convenient, professional, and seamless travel experiences. As the peak summer travel season approaches, the airline’s presence on the SGN - VDO route not only helps address rising passenger demand but also represents a meaningful contribution to stimulating domestic tourism and supporting sustainable regional development.
