Special baggage

Special baggage items including sports equipment, strollers and other items can be carried on Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ flights. Our instructions below are provided to help you prepare for the upcoming amazing journey. 

Detail

  • Surfing equipment: 01 surfboard, 01 kiteboard, 01 sail.
  • Skiing/Water sports equipment: includes 01 pair of skis, 01 pair of ski boots, or 01 snowboard, 01 pair of boots, or 01 pair of standard water skis or 01 wakeboard.
  • Skateboard: Sports equipment used for skating/surfing, includes 01 board.
  • Fishing equipment: includes 02 fishing rods, 01 fishing line spool, 01 net, 01 pair of fishing shoes (all properly packed), and 01 tackle box.
  • Bowling equipment: includes 01 bowling bag, 01 or 02 bowling balls, 01 pair of bowling shoes.
  • Diving equipment: includes 01 diving suit, 01 snorkel, 01 pair of fins, 01 mask. Equipment containing dangerous goods such as pressure gauges or gas cylinders is not accepted.
  • Archery equipment: includes 01 bow, 01 quiver with arrows, 01 maintenance/repair kit.
  • Sailboard and mast
  • Hunting equipment
  • Sport guns and ammunition
  • Clubs
  • Bicycles (racing type – non-motorized)

Conditions

Weight up to 23kg and total dimensions not exceeding 203cm:

  • Counted toward the standard free baggage allowance;
  • No oversize fee applied.

Weight over 23kg up to 32kg and total dimensions up to 203cm:

  • Counted toward the standard free baggage allowance;
  • If overweight, the fee applies as per the overweight baggage rate: 800,000 VND (including VAT) per piece.

Total dimensions > 203cm or weight > 32kg will not be accepted as checked baggage. Such items will be transported as cargo.

All sports equipment must be properly packed in protective bags or rolled up.

Golf Equipment Standard

  • 01 golf set including a golf bag with a total weight not exceeding the standard of a regular checked baggage piece (≤ 23kg).
  • A full golf set may include up to 14 golf clubs, 12 golf balls, 01 pair of golf shoes, and tees for hitting golf balls. Items other than those listed above are not considered part of the golf set.

Transport Conditions

- Weight up to 23kg and total dimensions not exceeding 203 cm:

  • 1 set up to 23kg is free of charge and does not count toward the free baggage allowance;
  • No oversize fee applied.

- Weight over 23kg up to 32kg and total dimensions up to 203cm: Standard overweight baggage fee applies: 800,000 VND (including VAT).

- Total dimensions > 203 cm or weight > 32kg will not be accepted as checked baggage. Such items will be transported as cargo.

Service Booking

Book at least 24 hours prior to departure at ticket offices, customer care centers, or official Sun PhuQuoc Airways agents.

If a passenger requests Golf equipment transport at the airport check-in counter, Sun PhuQuoc Airways representatives will assess the flight’s capacity and may accept or refuse the transport.

Definition

These are fragile, easily breakable, or valuable items such as musical instruments, artwork, electronic devices, diplomatic bags, or currency molds that are not suitable for transport in the aircraft cargo hold. Passengers can purchase one or more seats adjacent to their own in the same service class for transporting these items.

Transport Conditions

  • Each item of baggage must not exceed 75kg per seat, and the 3-dimensional size must not exceed the allowed limit (L40cm x W50cm x H160cm) per seat.
  • Baggage must be packed to ensure there are no sharp edges that could damage or tear the seat cover, aircraft interior, or cause hazards to passengers and crew members.

Service Booking

  • Book at least 24 hours before departure at the ticket office, customer service center, or official Sun PhuQuoc Airways agents.
  • Each passenger may purchase up to a maximum of two (02) additional seats at the adult fare of the currently available booking class per seat.

If a passenger requests transport at the airport check-in: Sun PhuQuoc Airways representatives at the airport will assess the actual capacity of the flight and decide whether to accept or decline transport.

Acceptance Limits

Refer to Appendix III, List of Items Classified as Dangerous Goods Restricted for Carriage on Person or in Baggage, issued under Decision No. 1541/QĐ-CHK dated September 14, 2021 by the Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam:

  • Alcohol content up to 24%: no restrictions.
  • Alcohol content over 24% up to 70%: must be contained in the manufacturer’s original sealed container with label intact, container volume not exceeding 1 liter, and each passenger may carry no more than 5 liters in total.
  • Alcohol content over 70%: not allowed in carry-on baggage, checked baggage, or on person.

Packing Conditions

  • Alcoholic beverages are only accepted in the original manufacturer’s sealed bottle/container and must not be opened, so the alcohol content can be verified.
  • Wrap each bottle in newspaper or place it in a plastic bag.
  • Provide dividers between bottles.
  • Bottles must be placed inside a foam box, plastic box, or waterproof container, then sealed and carefully taped to prevent leaks or spills during handling. Each waterproof container must also be wrapped in plastic with a minimum thickness of 1mm.
  • For all liquids in bottles or jars: bottles/jars must be wrapped in plastic or placed in plastic bags to prevent breakage and leakage into the cargo hold.

 

Sun PhuQuoc Airways does not accept the transport of live animals on its flights.

Transport Conditions

Perishable items are goods that may be damaged if stored under certain conditions such as changes in temperature and humidity.

Items such as durian, fish sauce, seafood, fresh fruits, plants and flowers, meat, etc., are restricted as checked baggage on Sun PhuQuoc Airways flights. In some cases, a perishable item may not be suitable to be carried on the plane but is also difficult to refuse for transport. Therefore, such items may still be accepted as checked baggage provided the passenger assumes all risks (if any). Sun PhuQuoc Airways will not be responsible for unusual cases such as damage or weight loss. Passengers are only eligible for compensation for delayed or lost baggage (if applicable) according to regulations.

Packing Conditions

- Fresh/perishable/frozen items:

  1. Fresh or perishable items must be securely packed suitable for transport. If necessary, staff may request the passenger to repack to prevent loss or damage to other baggage.
  2. The use of crushed/ wet ice is not allowed.
  3. Inner packaging: wrap in plastic bags with a minimum thickness of 0.1 mm and add multiple outer layers of plastic.
  4. Outer packaging: place the inner-packaged items in foam boxes, plastic boxes, or waterproof containers, then close, seal carefully with tape to prevent leaks or spillage during transport. Each foam/plastic/waterproof container must be wrapped in a plastic layer at least 1 mm thick.
  5. If the passenger uses dry ice to preserve these items, the total dry ice must not exceed 2.5 kg per person and must allow venting.

- Fish sauce and other strong-smelling liquids:

  1. Each bottle must be tightly sealed and individually wrapped with tape.
  2. Fill level of each bottle must not exceed 95% of total bottle volume.
  3. Bottles must be placed in foam boxes, plastic boxes, or waterproof containers, sealed carefully to prevent leaks or spillage. Each container must be wrapped in a plastic layer at least 1 mm thick.
  4. For all liquids in bottles or jars: wrap them in plastic or place in plastic bags to avoid spillage in the cargo hold.
  5. Each passenger is allowed to check in a maximum of 3 liters of fish sauce on SPA flights.

- Durian and jackfruit:

  1. Must be carefully wrapped with multiple layers of nylon before placing in checked baggage or pre-inspected boxes to prevent odor transfer to other luggage.
  2. Each passenger is allowed to check in a maximum of 5 kg of durian or jackfruit on SPA flights.

- For other liquids not listed above, they must be securely packed in glass bottles or containers that are not airtight to allow liquid escape; otherwise, they will not be accepted for transport.

Transport Conditions

According to regulations, passengers are not allowed to carry fragile items, money, jewelry, precious metals, computers or other electronic devices, silver items, contracts, securities, other valuables, business documents, passports, or other personal documents. However, if a passenger insists on checking these items because their size is not suitable for transport in the cabin, such items may be accepted as checked baggage, and the passenger assumes all potential risks associated with them.

Packing Conditions

Fragile items will be accepted if they are properly packed in:

  • Factory-sealed cartons in accordance with the original packing of the shipped batch;
  • A rigid mailing tube or container;
  • A casing designed for transporting such items;
  • Packing with protective inner materials;
  • Secure wrapping that does not create any security hazards.

However, fragile items with improper packaging will only be accepted if the passenger signs a waiver of liability. SPA will be exempt from liability in the following cases:

  • Improper packing;
  • The checked baggage is not properly sealed;
  • Contents are damaged.

Wheelchairs or other mobility aids will not be counted toward the free checked baggage allowance if the passenger uses wheelchair services (WCH passenger). Each passenger is entitled to the free transportation of one (01) wheelchair/mobility aid device.

If the above conditions are not met, manual wheelchairs or other mobility aids will be included in the free baggage allowance and excess baggage fees will apply if the total weight exceeds the permitted allowance.

 

Manual wheelchairs/strollers are not counted toward the free checked baggage allowance if the passenger is traveling with an infant or young child and/or is a passenger requiring wheelchair assistance. Wheelchairs/strollers are transported free of charge, provided that each passenger checks in only one (01) wheelchair/stroller.

Passengers are allowed to use manual wheelchairs/strollers up to the departure gate.

If the above conditions are not met, manual wheelchairs/strollers will be included in the free baggage allowance and excess baggage charges will apply if the total weight exceeds the permitted allowance.
